Over 33,000 Public Service Employees To Get Salary Increase

In a statement, Is-Servizz Pubbliku (Malta Public Service) explained how the pay increases work and who will be receiving them.

The increase is to be received by the President of Malta, the Prime Minister, Cabinet Members, Leader of the Opposition, and all civil service employees.

This is the result of a new collective agreement that came into effect on the 1st of January 2025.

The largest increase will go to employees in Scales 5, 6, and 7, who will benefit from an additional €1,652 per year.

This includes the €242 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for this year.

The collective agreement, said Malta Public Service, was agreed upon with all unions. Under the same agreement, all government pay scales will continue to rise until 2030 as negotiated with all unions.

These raises will be impacting over 33,000 employees through this ‘historic agreement.’
