Over 30 Roadchecks Conducted Across Malta During First Night of 2026

The Malta Police Force carried out more than 30 roadchecks across Malta and Gozo during the first night of 2026, stopping over 700 vehicles in total.
During these inspections, police officers issued more than 100 fines and brought 22 charges, while also conducting a number of breathalyser tests. Six drivers were found to be over the legal alcohol limit.
The Police Force said that no major traffic accidents were reported during the night, attributing this to the combined efforts of officers on duty and the cooperation shown by motorists.
Police also thanked drivers for their responsible behaviour on the roads, which contributed to a safer start to the new year.
