Over 3,300 Students To Benefit From One Year Free Internet Access Voucher

Over 3,300 students in Malta will benefit from a new round of internet support through a €300 voucher scheme, providing them with one year of free internet access.
The initiative is part of ongoing government efforts to strengthen education and improve digital access for young people, ensuring they have the tools needed to succeed in their studies.
The scheme targets students who are eligible for stipends and who began post-secondary education for the first time during the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
This includes learners at Junior College, Higher Secondary, MCAST, the Institute of Tourism Studies and other post-secondary institutions across the country.
Under the programme, students will be able to choose an internet service from one of Malta’s providers, with coverage lasting for 12 months.
The aim is to support learning, research, communication and skills development while easing financial pressure on families.
Education and Sport Minister Byron Camilleri said the initiative reflects continued investment in students and their future. He stated that in today’s digital world, internet access is no longer a luxury but a necessity, and that government remains committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all learners.
First introduced in 2021, the scheme has already benefited more than 9,200 students.
This year alone, the government will invest over €1 million to sustain the programme.
Eligible students began receiving emails from the Maintenance Grants Unit on Monday 22 June, allowing them to select their preferred provider. Vouchers will be issued from mid July and will remain valid until 30 September 2026.
