More than 3,300 students are beginning or continuing their educational journey at Ġan Franġisk Abela Junior College and Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School as the two institutions welcome students for a new academic year.

Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri visited both institutions during their Freshers activities, where he met students and visited stands providing information about services, opportunities and activities available throughout the year.

During his visits, Minister Camilleri said these years represent an important stage in students’ educational and personal development as they continue building on their choices and preparing for their future.

“These are very important years in every student’s journey. You will not only continue working towards your education, but also discover what you enjoy, where you want to go and what you want to do in the future,” the Minister said.

At Junior College, 2,094 students are following different study programmes, including the Matriculation Course through various pathways. The institution also offers programmes for students over 18 and specialised study routes in medicine and science, as well as a Dual Career Pathway for student-athletes.

Meanwhile, Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School in Naxxar is welcoming around 1,267 students, with programmes including the Matriculation Course, AIO Course, foundation programmes and specialised study options.

Both institutions also provide students with support services, guidance and opportunities to participate in activities beyond the classroom, including student organisations and initiatives aimed at personal development.
