According to data released by Eurostat, 27.6% of Maltese people aged 16 or over said they could not afford one week of annual holidays away from home.

This was right on the 2025 EU average of 27.5%, meaning a quarter of the Maltese population could not afford such a holiday.

The highest proportion of people unable to afford the week’s annual holiday was registered in Romania at 61.4%, whereas the lowest was recorded in Luxembourg at 10.6%.
