Minister Byron Camilleri provided information on firearm licence holders in Malta.

He stated that there are 21,133 individuals in the country who hold at least one firearm licence, representing the total number of unique licence holders across all categories.

The Minister also gave a breakdown of licences by category. For hunting licences covering ground birds, sea birds and rabbits, 12,845 persons are licensed.

Target shooting licences in categories A, B and A Special are held by 14,746 persons, while Target B licences are held by 8,694 persons.

Collector licences are split between 1,524 in Collector A and 6,692 in Collector B.

Some individuals hold more than one licence, meaning they appear in multiple categories.

For example, a person could hold both a hunting and a target shooting licence. As a result, the sum of licence holders by category is higher than the total number of unique individuals.

The data provides both the overall number of people licensed (21,133) and a detailed view of licence distribution by type.
