Over 2 Million People Travelled Between Malta & Gozo In Q3

During the third quarter of 2025, sea transport between Malta and Gozo recorded increases in trips, vehicles, and passengers compared with the same period in 2024.
According to NSO, between July and September 2025, a total of 12,064 trips were operated, carrying 2,089,047 passengers. August was the busiest month, accounting for 4,099 trips (34.0%) of the total for the quarter.
On the Mġarr–Ċirkewwa route, 1,711,511 passengers travelled during the third quarter, representing a 3.3% increase over 2024.
The highest number of passengers, 603,080 (35.2%), was recorded in August. The number of vehicles carried rose by 2.0% to 600,695, while the total number of trips stood at 9,238, marking a 0.1% increase compared with the previous year.

August again registered the highest activity with 3,118 trips (33.8%) of the quarterly total.
Vehicle traffic from Mġarr was highest on Sundays and Mondays, while passenger traffic peaked on Sundays and Saturdays.
From Ċirkewwa, vehicle traffic was busiest on Fridays and Saturdays, while passenger traffic peaked on Saturdays and Fridays.
On the Mġarr–Valletta route, 2,826 trips were carried out, transporting 377,536 passengers, increases of 3.0% and 17.9% respectively. August remained the busiest month, with 981 trips (34.7%) and 137,394 passengers (36.4%).
