Over 2.6 Million Tourists Visited Malta Between January & July 2026

Malta welcomed an estimated 489,494 inbound tourists in July 2026, marking an increase of 20.8% compared to the same month last year.

The majority of visitors travelled to Malta for holiday purposes, with 465,182 tourists recorded under this category, while 13,031 visited for business purposes.

The largest share of inbound tourists consisted of people aged between 0 and 24, accounting for 38.0% of total arrivals, followed by those aged between 25 and 44 at 31.4%.

Residents from the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland made up 45.1% of all inbound tourists during the month.

Tourist nights also increased, rising by 15.1% compared to July 2025 and reaching 3.2 million nights.

Rented accommodation establishments accounted for 88.4% of total guest nights, while the average length of stay stood at 6.5 nights.

Tourist expenditure reached €538.4 million, representing a 19.1% increase over the same month last year.

Average expenditure per night was estimated at €168.7.

Visitors to Gozo and Comino, including both same-day and overnight tourists, totalled 314,708, equivalent to 64.3% of all tourists.

Between January and July 2026, Malta recorded 2,621,319 inbound tourists, an 18.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

During this period, total nights spent rose by 11.1% to 14.9 million, while tourist expenditure reached €2.334 billion, up 15.8%. The number of visitors to Gozo and Comino during the first seven months reached 1,438,280, or 54.9% of total tourists.
