More than 12,000 students attending SkolaSajf this summer had the opportunity to strengthen their financial knowledge and skills through engaging activities centred on financial capability, value, and money management.

The initiative was organised in collaboration between the Foundation for Educational Services within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, and ĠEMMA, which forms part of the Ministry for Social Policy and Children’s Rights.

Financial literacy sessions were delivered to children aged between 7 and 11 across schools in Malta and Gozo. Students worked in groups, taking part in interactive workshops that combined fun with practical lessons about money.

The work of both the students and the professionals who led the sessions was recognised during an awards ceremony attended by the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, and the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima.

Minister Falzon said, “We need to nurture a stronger sense of social responsibility and maturity within our society, and this must start at a young age. That is why initiatives such as these should continue to be strengthened in secondary schools, so that adolescents are better equipped to make sound financial decisions.”

Minister Grima also added, “Financial literacy is an important part of education for citizenship. As a government, we are committed to helping our students of all ages by providing them with the tools they need to further develop their skills and abilities. Initiatives such as these sessions not only support classroom learning but also equip children with essential life skills.”

Theses sessions introduced practical and enjoyable approaches to money management.
