Over 1,035,000 Passengers Pass Through Malta Airport In July

Malta International Airport continued to expand its reach in 2025, with five new airlines, including LOT Polish Airlines, Qatar Airways and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, joining its network.
The airport is now connected to 109 destinations. Southern Europe remains the most connected region, accounting for 35% of flights, although its share has dropped slightly from 37% in 2024.
Connections to Northern and Eastern Europe saw modest growth, with Northern Europe now representing 24% of flights and Eastern Europe 12%. New routes to Helsinki and Copenhagen contributed to this increase.
The airport’s strategy to encourage year-round travel has paid off, with 39.5% of total traffic in the first half of the year recorded in the winter months.

The upcoming season will see further off-peak expansion, as SAS continues its Copenhagen service and Ryanair launches flights to Gothenburg.
In July, 1,035,341 passengers passed through the airport. Aircraft movements increased by 5.3% year-on-year, while seat load factor remained stable at 89.6%.
Italy was the most popular market, followed by the UK, Germany, France and Poland.
Passengers can now carry liquids up to two litres and electronic devices in hand luggage without removal, thanks to the introduction of advanced security scanners.
Terminal expansion also continues, with a new non-Schengen arrivals area completed in June and further construction underway.
