Over 100,000 Passengers Expected To Travel Through Malta International Airport During Carnival Weekend

Malta International Airport is preparing for one of the busiest festive weekends of the season, with around 121,000 passengers expected to pass through the terminal between 13 and 17 February, as Valentine’s Day and Carnival celebrations coincide in Malta.
Romantic city breaks and carnival destinations are driving demand. Paris remains a popular choice for couples, with frequent connections to Charles de Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais.
Meanwhile, daily flights to Venice Treviso and regular services to Cologne are attracting travellers eager to experience some of Europe’s most famous carnival festivities, from masked parades to large-scale street celebrations.
To mark the occasion, Malta International Airport will host seasonal activities across the terminal and SkyParks Business Centre, including free treats, entertainment and a children’s club aimed at families travelling over the long weekend.
The surge follows a strong January for the airport, which recorded nearly 595,000 passenger movements, with Italy retaining its position as Malta’s largest aviation market.
