“Our Team Is Prepared, The Proposals Are Ready. Give Us A Chance,” Says Alex Borg

Alex Borg addressed supporters in Swieqi this evening, where he outlined the Nationalist Party’s newly announced Mass Transit Plan and criticised the government’s handling of Malta’s transport challenges.
Speaking during the PN election event, Borg accused the Labour administration of repeatedly promising a metro system without delivering concrete results.
He also pointed to comments by Finance Minister Clyde Caruana, noting that Caruana himself had not yet seen the costings for Labour’s proposed mass transport system.
Borg stated that, unlike the Labour Party, PN is prepared to immediately move forward with the project if elected.
“The only mode of transport we trust right now is our car,” Borg said, describing the pressure currently facing Malta’s transport infrastructure.
He also criticised the government’s proposal to offer grants for larger vehicles, arguing that encouraging bigger cars would only worsen traffic congestion.
Borg explained that the proposed metro system aims to provide Maltese and Gozitan residents with “peace of mind” by ensuring they can arrive at their destinations on time.
He added that the service could potentially be free for the public.
The Opposition Leader also stressed that “money isn’t everything,” saying people deserve a better quality of life, affordable homes, reduced bureaucracy and a stronger healthcare system.
He further accused the Labour government of relying on “fear” and “personal attacks” in politics, while describing PN’s approach as “positive” and focused on providing direction for Malta.
“Our team is prepared, the proposals are ready,” Borg declared. “Give us a chance.”
