Opus Malta Gifts Monumental Collector’s Book ‘The Malta Opus’ To Pope Leo XIV

Opus Malta visited Vatican City this week, with directors Professor Victor Grech and Daniel Cuschieri meeting members of the Papal Household to discuss potential collaborations. During the meeting, The Malta Opus was formally showcased.
The project was also invited to the general audience in St Peter’s Square on 4 March 2026. At the conclusion of the audience, Opus Malta presented His Holiness Pope Leo XIV with ‘The Malta Opus’.
Professor Victor Grech, the project’s Editor-in-Chief, said he was “honoured to be asked to create an Opus about my own country” and expressed his eagerness to develop further stories celebrating Malta.
Daniel Cuschieri, Director of Opus Malta, described the occasion as “an immense privilege to present The Malta Opus to His Holiness. I believe anyone who experiences this work, like our collectors, will appreciate the story and effort that went into it. It is not every day that one meets the Pope or sees an Opus edition find a place in the Vatican library.”
The visit marks a significant milestone for Opus Malta, highlighting both the international recognition of the project and the cultural importance of celebrating Malta through this monumental collector’s book.
