Opposition Raises Concerns Over ARMS Billing System And Consumer Complaints

In a press release released by the Nationalist Party, concerns have been raised about billing irregularities at ARMS, the public agency responsible for issuing energy and water bills in Malta.

According to the statement issued by PN, initial problems with ARMS’ billing system may have affected around 50,000 accounts.

The Opposition claimed that this figure was supported by feedback it received directly from consumers.

They further claimed that ARMS continues to receive a high number of complaints and is correcting several bills, while maintaining publicly that its system is functioning properly.

The press release refers to a recent ARMS statement signed by Chief Operations Officer Nikita Zammit Alamango, which described the issue as affecting only a “small percentage” of consumers.

The opposition argues that ARMS has not provided exact figures on how many accounts were impacted, and alleges the issue had been known internally for at least a year.

The Nationalist Party also criticises the lack of action by Energy Minister Miriam Dalli. It says it is still receiving complaints about eco-reductions not being applied over the past two years.

The statement is signed by shadow ministers Mark Anthony Sammut and Graziella Galea, who call for greater transparency and accountability.
