Alex Borg has also joined the ongoing Puttinu Cares Good Friday Telethon, showing cross-party support for one of Malta’s most important annual charitable initiatives.

The telethon, which this year has already surpassed the €1 million mark within its first hours, continues to bring together political figures, organisations, and the public in a united effort to support patients receiving treatment abroad.

Borg’s presence during the live broadcast further highlighted the spirit of national unity that defines the telethon, as he joined volunteers and participants in encouraging donations and assisting with incoming calls.

Earlier in the day, Robert Abela, alongside Lydia Abela, also participated in the telethon and presented a €50,000 donation, contributing to a total government pledge of €100,000.

The event, which began at 9:10am across all local TV stations, is focused on raising funds for the new Puttinu Cares accommodation project in London. The development, located near Great Ormond Street Hospital, will feature 29 apartments for Maltese patients and their families and is expected to be completed by March 2028.

Despite the cancellation of the Good Friday Night Walk due to adverse weather conditions, the Maltese and Gozitan public have once again shown remarkable generosity, with donations continuing to pour in throughout the day.

The telethon remains ongoing, with viewers encouraged to keep contributing and supporting the vital work carried out by Puttinu Cares, ensuring that patients and families facing serious illness are never alone.
