On This Day 46 & 15 Years Ago, Malta Was Hit By 2 Storms

Today, October 25th, Malta is commemorating not one, but two, storm anniversaries that saw intense damage to various parts of the island.
Back in 1979 – that’s 46 years ago – what was probably the biggest storm of the century hit the islands.
A whopping 200mm of rain fell on the island, and led to the deaths of four persons after they were drowned in the flooding.
Then, in October of 2010, another sever storm hit between Sunday and Monday. The flooding was so intense that a number of coffins were carried in Ħal Qormi were carried off with the water.
