Omar Rababah has confirmed that he will be seeking to contest the upcoming election as a Labour Party candidate, following an approach from Prime Minister Robert Abela.

In a social media statement, Rababah said he was personally invited by Abela in recent days to stand on behalf of the party. He explained that the decision came after “a lot of reflection” and discussions with family and close friends.

Rababah said he ultimately decided to accept the invitation, describing his entry into politics as a step taken with seriousness and responsibility. He said he hopes to be “the kind of politician he always expected politicians to be”, adding that while he cannot promise perfection, he can promise genuineness and loyalty to his principles.

He outlined plans for a simple, grassroots-style campaign focused on direct engagement with the public, saying his aim is for people to get to know him while he gets to know them. He also encouraged supporters and interested individuals to contact him through social media or by phone to assist his campaign.

Rababah confirmed that he has formally submitted his nomination and that the approval process is now underway. His announcement adds another new name to Labour’s growing list of election candidates as the campaign period intensifies.
