Not All Violence Leaves Bruises

Abuse doesn’t have to be physical. Intimidation, coercion, gaslighting, and ridicule are all forms of psychological violence.
‘We Have a Dream – A Future Without Violence’ reminds us that being screamed at, belittled, or threatened is also violence, even when no one lays a hand on you.
Constantly checking your location, demanding your passwords, isolating you from loved ones, or controlling your finances are all behaviours rooted in control. They are forms of violence—and anyone experiencing them deserves support.
‘We Have a Dream – A Future Without Violence,’ launched by the Commission on Gender Based Violence within the Parliamentary Secretariat for Reforms and Equality, aims to raise awareness of both psychological and physical abuse.
Through initiatives such as ‘Together We Empower,’ a funding programme for NGOs and voluntary organisations, the campaign works to raise awareness and provide resources to help end gender-based and domestic violence.
Our words can either normalise violence or help end it. When we speak with respect, listen to survivors, and expect accountability, we build a safer future for all.
