Noah & Emma Were Most Popular Names In Malta 2025

Noah, Luca and Matteo topped the list of the most popular baby names for boys in Malta during 2025, while Emma, Emilia and Leah were the most common choices for girls.

In Gozo, the most popular names for girls were Ellie, Valentina and Mia. For the fourth consecutive year, Ġanni and Luċija remained the most popular names using Maltese diacritic letters.

During 2025, a total of 4,368 births were registered in Malta and Gozo, with 2,243 boys and 2,125 girls.

Of these, 4,028 births were recorded in Malta, representing a decrease of 79 compared to 2024. In Gozo, 340 new births were registered, including 184 boys and 156 girls.

Over the same period, 4,176 deaths were recorded across Malta and Gozo. Malta registered 3,838 deaths, while Gozo recorded 338.

A total of 2,240 marriages were registered, showing an increase compared to the previous year.

Malta recorded 2,069 marriages, up by 48 from 2024, while Gozo registered 171. There was also one civil union and 65 registered cohabitations.
