No Wild Cat Is On The Loose, Says Animal Welfare Commissioner

The Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare issued a statement addressing reports circulating online alleging the sighting of a wild animal, reportedly a panther or jaguar, within a residential area in Cospicua.

‘Following checks with available sources, including individuals who brought this matter to attention, there is information indicating that 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲’, the statement reported.

‘The information has also been referred to the competent authorities, including the Directorate of Animal Welfare, for any necessary follow-up in line with their enforcement role.’

‘No personal data, or data relating to any investigation in connection with this case, will be disclosed. The confidentiality of the individuals who reported this information will be respected.’
