No to Quran in Maltese Classrooms, Robert Abela & Alex Borg State

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Opposition Leader Alex Borg both stated that they do not agree with the Quran being taught in Maltese state classrooms during a political debate held at the University of Malta.
The comments quickly became one of the most discussed moments of the debate, sparking strong reactions online and across the political sphere.
The debate, which focused on education, employment and the environment, also featured Sandra Gauci, Arnold Cassola and Paul Salomone.
Abela defended the Labour Government’s record on education and infrastructure, highlighting yearly stipend increases, ERASMUS incentives and a holistic educational approach centred around schools, nutrition and sports. He also pointed towards environmental projects such as Manoel Island, White Rocks and Fort Campbell.
Borg meanwhile outlined the PN’s proposals to increase stipends by 25%, introduce tax cuts for graduates and businesses and implement the first phase of a mass transport system within one legislature, while also criticising the Government over environmental promises he said never materialised.
