WasteServ has started works on a new organic processing plant, following a €75 million investment, an estimated €45 million of which have been co-founded through European funds, announced the government.

The new facility launched in response to a continuously growing number of organic waste on our islands, reaching about 36 million kilograms last year.

Miriam Dalli, Minister for the Environment, stated that "The new facility will be a key piece of Malta's national waste infrastructure."

"By significantly increasing processing capacity, the new plant will complement the ongoing waste separation efforts of households and businesses," continued Minister Dalli.

The opening was also attended by Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, Minister for European Funds, and WasteServe CEO Richard Bilocca.
