New Veterinary Examination Facility Launched To Improve Care for Rescued Animals

A new veterinary examination facility has been inaugurated at the Department for Animal Welfare, aimed at providing immediate care to rescued animals. The facility ensures that animals are examined by a veterinarian as soon as they arrive on-site.
Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said noted, “Every rescued animal deserves immediate and professional treatment. This new facility will reduce the time between rescue and medical care, while further enhancing the quality of animal protection services in Malta.”

Joseph John Vella, Director of Animal Welfare, explained that the facility will strengthen ongoing care by allowing veterinarians to monitor treatment progress and prognosis through advanced diagnostic equipment. This ensures treatments are effective and can be adjusted as needed, giving every animal the best possible veterinary attention.
Veterinarian Justin Camilleri added that the facility will make aftercare more practical and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to continuously improving animal care in Malta.
