New Uniforms For Rapid Intervention Unit Unveiled

The Malta Police Force has introduced a new operational uniform for the Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU), continuing its investment in the specialised section just one month after the inauguration of new RIU vehicles.

The updated uniform has been designed to improve officers’ comfort, mobility and efficiency while carrying out demanding operational duties.

Developed following consultation and evaluation with officers from within the RIU itself, the uniform was tailored specifically to meet the section’s operational requirements.

The material used provides greater ventilation, flexibility and comfort during operations, while additional pockets make the uniform more practical during patrols and field assignments.

Although the uniform features a distinctive black design that gives the RIU its own identity, it still maintains consistency with the Malta Police Force’s existing working uniform, with slight adaptations made to suit the unit’s specialised role.

Byron Camilleri said the investment forms part of ongoing efforts to provide officers with improved working conditions, modern equipment and stronger operational support.

He added that such investments ultimately contribute towards a better service for Maltese and Gozitan families.

Angelo Gafà described the new uniform as another step towards modernising the Force and ensuring officers are equipped for today’s operational realities. The RIU will officially begin using the uniform from 7pm this evening.
