New Terminal Planned For Malta International Airport

Malta International Airport is set for a major transformation, with a new 6,000-square-metre terminal planned within the next two years. Speaking at a press conference at the airport, Prime Minister Robert Abela highlighted the ongoing upgrades, which are being driven by high-quality private investment, supported and sustained by the Government.
“After inaugurating the Priority Guest Terminal last summer, today we are going into the details of another investment of very great importance, the East Expansion. This project reflects what we can achieve when public institutions and private enterprise work together,” said the Prime Minister.
Dr Abela emphasised the airport’s strategic role in national development, “For Malta, our airport is more than a gateway, it is a vital engine of growth, tourism, trade, and international engagement. It is often the first and last impression visitors take with them, and it plays a central role in how we present ourselves to the world.”
Describing the East Expansion as a long-term investment in quality and efficiency, the Prime Minister added that it aligns with Malta Vision 2050 and strengthens Malta’s regional hub status.
“Such investments send a powerful message that Malta believes in planning ahead, building for future generations, and competing with confidence on the international stage,” he concluded.
