The IICT building spans 11,900 square metres and features 58 new learning spaces. These include 30 computer laboratories, 16 classrooms, five hardware labs, two network labs, game development labs and research spaces, including facilities for artificial intelligence.

Students also have access to a green screen studio, a robotics lab and other modern facilities, providing a wide range of practical learning experiences that reflect the variety of ICT courses offered at MCAST.

During his visit, the Prime Minister met students in laboratories focused on gaming, networking, robotics and Raspberry Pi, observing how the new facilities provide hands-on experience and access to innovative technologies that prepare students for a rapidly growing industry.

Each year, more than a thousand students follow ICT-related courses such as software development, iGaming, cyber security and computer networking.

MCAST offers a complete educational pathway from basic level to Masters, aimed at equipping students for high-quality careers.

Prime Minister Abela highlighted that investment in education is an investment in the ambition and future of students, describing the IICT as a digital future being built by today’s young people. He also noted that this initiative aligns with Malta 2050, ensuring that Maltese and Gozitan youth can access the best digital opportunities.

The wider €32.9 million investment includes three new buildings on the campus, aimed at strengthening education, innovation and opportunities.

Ministers Grima and Zrinzo Azzopardi underlined the importance of continued investment in technology and skills, emphasising that the IICT building represents a key step in preparing Malta for a modern digital economy.
