New PN Leader Alex Borg Announces Shadow Cabinet

Today, Alex Borg, leader of the Nationalist Party, officially announced his Shadow Cabinet.
“This is not just about assigning responsibilities to our MPs. It is clear proof that Partit Nazzjonalista is ready to provide serious, responsible, and visionary leadership, giving the Maltese and Gozitan people the best choice,” Borg stated.
Bernard Grech, the party’s former leader, has been appointed Shadow Minister for Capital Projects and Infrastructure.
Adrian Delia moves from Health to Finance, while Chris Said takes on the role of Shadow Minister for Gozo, succeeding Borg.
A younger generation of MPs is also set to make its mark. Darren Carabott, Chairperson of the PAC, serves as Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Security. Eve Borg Bonello oversees Climate Change and Public Cleanliness, Bernice Bonello handles Youth and Local Government, Jerome Caruana Cilia focuses on the Economy and Enterprise, and Ian Vassallo is responsible for Preventive and Primary Care.
David Agius continues as Deputy Speaker and takes on Sport and Volunteering, while Robert Cutajar serves as Whip, Parliamentary Secretary, and Shadow Minister for the Self-Employed, Small Businesses, and Cooperatives. Paula Mifsud Bonnici is responsible for Active Ageing, and Karol Aquilina oversees Public Administration and Efficiency in the Public Sector. Graziella Attard Previ covers Equality, Civil Liberties, and Public Broadcasting, with Charles Azzopardi handling National Heritage and Hobbies.
Other appointments include Ivan Bartolo on Social and Affordable Housing and Poverty, Ivan J. Bartolo on Innovation and AI, and Graham Bencini on Social Security and EU Funds. Toni Bezzina takes on Transport, Agriculture, and Fisheries, while Rebekah Borg is responsible for the Environment. Albert Buttigieg will focus on Neurodivergence and Child Protection, and Claudette Buttigieg leads Research and Development. Ryan Callus oversees Social Dialogue and Trade Promotion, while Ivan Castillo takes charge of Employment, Maritime, and Aviation. Mario de Marco covers Tourism, Beppe Fenech Adami Foreign Affairs, Graziella Galea Inclusion and Consumer Rights, and Joe Giglio Justice.
Further appointments include Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici on Constitutional Reform and National Identity, Chris Said on Gozo, Mark Anthony Sammut on Energy and Water Conservation, Justin Schembri on Education, Stephen Spiteri on Health, Julie Zahra on Culture and the Creative Economy, and Stanley Zammit on Planning and Lands.
Through this Shadow Cabinet, Partit Nazzjonalista highlights concrete solutions to Malta’s challenges, including strengthening the economy, promoting fairness, protecting the environment, and ensuring transparent governance.
Borg concluded, “We are ready to be the natural choice to lead the Maltese and Gozitan people towards a better future.”
