New National Record As Two Dancing Towers Light Up Mqabba

Mqabba added another chapter to its long fireworks tradition on Saturday evening after a 90-metre mechanised ground fireworks ‘Tapit’ successfully established a new national record during the village’s Symphony of Stars spectacle.
The record-breaking display featured 52 universal mechanisms made up of an impressive 10,000 lances and 3,000 different fountains, spread across 90 metres.
The spectacle also featured two giant towers synchronised to six musical pieces, with innovative effects and colours that attracted large crowds to the village.
More than 7,000 fireworks shots formed part of the display, which was organised by the Għaqda tan-Nar Madonna tal-Ġilju. The same team is already internationally known for holding the Guinness World Record for creating the world’s largest mechanised fireworks Catherine wheel.
The evening also included traditional Maltese fireworks and a ground fireworks display.
