NEW MONUMENT HONOURING GRAND MASTER ANTOINE DE PAULE TO BE ERECTED IN PAOLA SQUARE

A new monument honouring Grand Master Antoine de Paule is set to be installed in the main square of Raħal Ġdid as part of a wider regeneration project announced by Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett.
The project forms part of ongoing works to upgrade the square, with improvements already underway. These include the installation of a commemorative plaque marking 400 years since the founding of the locality, as well as bronze maps showcasing the development of Raħal Ġdid over time. Existing fountains are also being restored, while new additions such as trees in planters and public benches aim to create a more welcoming and lively space.
Alongside the square’s redevelopment, plans are also in place for a modern lighting system for the Basilica of Christ the King. The system will highlight the building’s architectural features and offer flexible lighting options for different occasions.
Minister Bonett stated that the projects form part of a broader investment exceeding one million euro, aimed at giving the locality the importance it deserves. Paola Mayor Jason Silvio welcomed the initiative, noting that the project will further enhance one of the town’s most popular areas.
