New Montekristo Arena Ready To Host Equestrian Sports Once Again

The Montekristo arena has reopened for equestrian sports enthusiasts after the arena was completely rebuilt from scratch by Polidano Group.
This equestrian sport arena now features new foundations, different layers of materials for water filtration, new culverts, and premium quality sand imported from the Netherlands, which includes geotextile material to provide the best possible experience for both horses and athletes.
An open day was organised to inaugurate the opening of the equestrian arena to the sporting public. A free registration was open to everyone, and all participants were awarded a commemorative medal.
The arena was officially opened by the Prime Minister's wife, Dr. Lydia Abela, alongside Mr. Charles Polidano, Founding Director of Polidano Group and Montekristo, Dr. Dean Hili and Max Zammit on behalf of the management of EquestriMalta, and the President of the Malta Equestrian Federation, James Dalli.
This investment was made by the Polidano Group, with the assistance of the authority EquestriMalta and the Malta Equestrian Federation. An expert from the Netherlands was brought in to oversee the entire process of the project, who also guided the selection of new machinery purchased to maintain the arena in the best possible condition.
A number of athletes that succesfully participated in this open day, had the chance to use the new arena for the first time. This arena features a brand-new, highly professional surface of international standard. Prime Minister Robert Abela also attended the event informally.
Further works are expected to continue through the summer, including new safety measures, stables, and ancillary recreational facilities, with the Malta Equestrian Federation's first competition planned for September.
