From prickly pears to Gozo sea salt, a newly opened microbrewery is putting a Maltese twist on craft beer.

A new microbrewery has officially opened in Malta, bringing together local ingredients, creative recipes and a fresh approach to beer production.

With the capacity to produce up to 7,000 litres of beer every month, the brewery aims to celebrate Malta’s identity through flavours inspired by the island's fruits, traditions and everyday life.

Among its more unusual creations are a lager brewed with Gozo sea salt and lime, a prickly pear sour and a strawberry gelato sour inspired by familiar, nostalgic flavours.

The brewery also plans to produce more traditional beers, including lagers, pale ales, IPAs and New England IPAs, while regularly experimenting with new recipes.

Rather than focusing on mass distribution, the team wants visitors to enjoy their beer as fresh as possible, directly at the brewery, with a short journey from tank to glass.

A select number of other establishments will also be supplied, initially focusing on draught beer.

Even the brewery’s colourful beer characters have a distinctly Maltese identity, inspired by the familiar personalities and everyday characters found in village squares across the islands.

“For us, this brewery is a chance to express our love for Malta through beer: its people, its ingredients and the memories we share,” the team explained.

“Above all, we want to create something that Malta can be proud of.”

The project aims to combine creativity, local culture and craft brewing while offering beer lovers something different from the usual selection.
