New Maltese Language And Culture Course Mandatory For Third-Country Nationals In Malta

A new mandatory course focusing on Maltese culture and language has been introduced for third-country nationals already residing in Malta, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen labour market integration.
The programme, developed by the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, will be offered through all licensed educational institutions. Participants must attend the course and pass an examination coordinated by the Government’s Examinations Department. Applications can be submitted via the Identità website.
Successful completion of the course may enable workers to qualify for a longer residence permit, extending from one year to two, depending on additional conditions such as prior or ongoing training.
Announced under the Malta Labour Migration Policy, the initiative aims to promote workforce stability. Minister Byron Camilleri stated that foreign workers are expected to adapt to Maltese society, adding that the measure will help create a more skilled and integrated workforce.
