New Exhibition Highlights Gozo’s Role During the Second World War

Gozo’s role during the Second World War is being brought to light through a newly inaugurated exhibition at the Gozo National Archives, officially opened by Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri.
This first-ever exhibition in Gozo dedicated to the Second World War focuses on the island’s experience and the impact of the conflict on the Gozitan community. It features original documents, photographs and artefacts that offer a direct insight into the hardships, sacrifices and daily realities faced by Gozitans during the global conflict.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Camilleri described the exhibition as a remarkable and highly informative collection, highlighting the unique documentation gathered by Charles Bezzina and his late father Frank, who devoted their lives to recording stories, events and objects related to this period in Gozo.
The exhibition also recalls the solidarity shown by Gozitans, who opened their homes to Maltese families fleeing the war and shared scarce food supplies despite widespread hardship.
