A new Cardio-Respiratory clinic has been inaugurated at Gozo General Hospital, following a €500,000 investment.

Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained how this clinic offers 21 services related to cardiovascular or respiratory needs, with the number of services to set to increase to 23 in the following weeks.

The services offered include comprehensive cardiovascular assessment and monitoring, such as blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, Holter monitoring, and exercise stress testing.

Specialised clinics are available for cardiac rehabilitation, heart failure management, electrophysiology, and echocardiography, including paediatric echocardiograms and stress echocardiography.

The centre also provides pacemaker and ICD follow-up and monitoring, as well as pulmonary function testing, ensuring a holistic approach to both cardiac and respiratory care.

Abela explained how over the past 8 months, investments were being made to expand Gozo General Hospital, including the introduction of machines like ILR, revisions of old machines, and sleep study tests.

"I'm satisfies seeing the great progress that occured in this sector," stated Minister Abela, "This is an important and determined step by the government in favour of Gozitans' health."
