New Educational Film On Road Safety Launched

A new realistic educational film on road safety has been launched and will be screened in a mobile cinema travelling across Malta and Gozo.
The short film was officially presented on Wednesday evening as part of the Aħsibha Darbtejn! campaign at a special event held in Ta’ Qali.
Journalists, media personalities, and local influencers were invited to attend, including Owen Luwellen, Ylenia Testa Spiteri, Daniela Farrugia, Ryan and Josmar, Allen Piscopo, Miguel Samuel, Maxine Pace, Johan Mifsud, and Tereza Anna.
The film provides a detailed reconstruction of a traffic accident, showing the first critical minutes after a collision, the moments immediately following impact, and the swift intervention of public officials and emergency services.
It highlights not only the technical aspects of a crash but also the human cost and tragic consequences of such incidents.
Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett emphasised the importance of the initiative as part of the wider campaign, stating,
“We often discuss fatalities and accidents, but the conversation is frequently superficial. This film has a greater impact because people can relate to what they are seeing.”
Kurt Farrugia, CEO of Transport Malta, underlined the campaign's critical importance, stating that promoting safer roads is a priority that demands action and commitment from Transport Malta and every driver in Malta.
Director Jason Zerafa described the filming process as powerful, noting its emotional impact and the realistic portrayal of situations many people face. The film delivers its message directly and graphically, encouraging reflection on how a single wrong decision can have devastating consequences.
Screenings will continue in the mobile cinema across Malta and Gozo, with the campaign running all year-round.
