Works on Ġnien il-Koppin, a new community garden in Ħal Kirkop, are at an advanced stage and are expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

The project, covering around 1,600 square metres on Triq Nerik Xerri, will transform a site that had previously been earmarked for development into a green space for residents and families.

During a site visit, Miriam Dalli, Minister for the Environment and Energy, reviewed progress alongside representatives from Project Green, members of the local council and Mayor Matthew Agius Zammit.

Minister Dalli said the garden will offer families a new open space with educational and recreational features for children.

She noted that initiatives like Ġnien il-Koppin form part of wider efforts to create more sustainable communities and encourage people to spend quality time outdoors.

With an investment of more than €500,000, the project includes pathways made from recyclable materials, lighting and water services, and a reservoir to collect rainwater for irrigation.

Interactive features such as treehouses, play areas and pollination structures will also be installed.
