The CEO position will now be a full time role dedicated to overseeing the company's daily operations and driving its long term transformation.

The Ministry said improving connectivity between Malta and Gozo will remain a key priority during this legislature, supported by planned investments in Gozo Channel, Mġarr Harbour and the Xewkija Airfield.

Ronald Sultana takes on the role at a significant time for the company as it prepares to modernise and expand its fleet while upgrading digital services and improving the customer experience.

Since 2019, he has served as Director responsible for Tourism and Economic Development within the Ministry for Gozo, a period during which the island recorded continued growth in tourism and investment.

Meanwhile, Dr Marlene Cini brings extensive expertise in public administration, legal affairs, corporate governance and strategic leadership.

She has previously held several senior governance positions, including Board Secretary of Gozo Channel Operations Ltd and the Gozo Regional Development Authority, as well as Deputy Head of the Maltese Delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.

The company also plans to modernise its digital platforms, including ticketing systems and marketing channels, to offer a more efficient and customer focused service.

The Ministry also thanked former Chairman Joe Cordina for his dedication and service to the company over recent years.
