The Government has announced a nationwide clean-up operation aimed at clearing debris and damage left behind by Storm Harry, as part of a coordinated effort to restore safety and normality across Malta.

Following intensive, targeted interventions carried out in the immediate aftermath of the storm, the Cleaning and Maintenance Division will in the coming days roll out a general clean-up programme across the entire country. This operation will focus on the removal of debris, mud and waste from roads, public spaces and coastal areas affected by the storm.

The clean-up forms part of the Government’s broader response to Storm Harry, which prioritises public safety, assistance to affected communities, and the restoration of damaged areas. Several localities have already benefited from emergency cleaning works, with the nationwide operation set to build on this initial phase.

In parallel, Infrastructure Malta has continued maintenance and repair works in areas impacted by the storm, addressing damage to roads and public infrastructure. Meanwhile, Transport Malta has carried out around 50 interventions to ensure road safety, following incidents involving fallen trees, damaged road signs and dislodged billboards.

The Government thanked all workers and officials involved in the clean-up and maintenance efforts for their dedication and swift response during challenging conditions. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious in areas still undergoing cleaning and maintenance works.

This nationwide initiative underscores the Government’s commitment to a coordinated and sustained response, ensuring that communities across Malta can recover safely and efficiently from the impact of Storm Harry.
