Nationalist Party Raises Concerns Over University Podcast Hosted By Karl Cini

The Nationalist Party has expressed concern over the selection of Karl Cini, a former Nexia BT partner who is currently facing court charges including corruption and money laundering, to present a new podcast hosted by the University of Malta.

In a statement, the PN said that, while it acknowledges Cini’s employment with the University and reiterates that every individual has the right to a fair and proper hearing, it believes that appointing someone undergoing court proceedings linked to the Panama Papers and a major corruption scandal could raise reputational concerns for the institution.

The party also noted that several academics have reportedly voiced disappointment about the decision, arguing that the choice may be perceived as an attempt at reputational rehabilitation.

The University has not publicly commented on the PN’s remarks. Court proceedings related to the charges against Cini are ongoing, and no judgment has been delivered.
