Nationalist Party Proposes More Funding & Support For Unions & Labour Market Reforms

“We will increase financial assistance to social partners and set up a dedicated fund for research, policy analysis and the development of practical solutions for the labour market.”
These were two proposals announced by the Leader of the Nationalist Party, Alex Borg, regarding the role of social partners in the governance of the country during a visit to the headquarters of UĦM Voice of the Workers in Floriana.
During a meeting with union representatives, Borg reiterated that the Nationalist Party is committed to working closely with social partners, supporting organisations in their work, easing unnecessary pressures and, above all, fostering an environment in which workers, families and businesses can succeed together.
In this context, the PN leader announced proposals aimed at placing social partners at the centre of policy making.
These include a future Nationalist Government increasing financial assistance to social partners, ensuring that these organisations have greater resources to carry out their work, establishing a dedicated fund for research, policy analysis and the development of practical solutions for the labour market, and supporting the modernisation of the labour market so that Malta remains competitive and productive.
In comments to the media, the Leader of the Nationalist Party reiterated that social partners should act as effective partners and active participants in national policy.
The Chief Executive of UĦM Voice of the Workers, Josef Vella, praised the proposals put forward by the Nationalist Party and said they would bring a very positive change to the labour market.
