NATIONALIST PARTY PROPOSES EXTENDING 10% DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE FOR 1ST TIME BUYERS

The Nationalist Party has proposed extending financial support for first-time buyers through a revised 10% deposit assistance scheme and a new measure aimed at reducing home loan costs during the first decade of ownership.

Under the proposal, a Nationalist Government would provide up to €45,000 interest free to help first-time buyers cover the 10% deposit required on properties valued at up to €450,000.

The amount would be repayable over a period of 40 years, with the scheme designed to better reflect current property market realities.

The PN also pledged to repay half of a buyer’s home loan interest for the first 10 years after purchasing a property, which it described as the most financially challenging period for many young homeowners.

The support would be paid directly into the buyer’s bank account each month.

The proposals form part of a wider package aimed at helping more young people enter the property market.
