Nationalist Party Opens Process For Election of New Leader

The Nationalist Party has officially opened the process for the election of its new leader, with the party's Electoral, Records and Data Commission inviting eligible members to submit expressions of interest.

The move follows a decision taken by the PN General Council to begin the leadership selection process after the general election held on the 30th of May.

In line with the party's statute, only PN members whose membership is fully paid up are eligible to contest the leadership. Prospective candidates have seven days to submit their declaration of interest, with the deadline set for 6pm on Wednesday, 1st July 2026.

Candidates must complete the prescribed application form, which can be requested from the Electoral Commission via email before being submitted by hand. A receipt will be issued upon submission.

The Electoral, Records and Data Commission said it will publicly announce the names of individuals expressing interest through media statements as declarations are received over the coming days.
