Nationalist Party Leader Alex Borg Visits Two Schools In Ta’ Kerċem, Gozo

Partit Nazzjonalista Leader Alex Borg said that every investment in education is an investment in a better world, a better country and better citizens as he visited two educational institutions in Ta' Kerċem, Gozo, at the start of the new school year.

Borg first visited BELS Gozo, an English language school that has been operating for 29 years. During the visit, BELS Chief Executive Rebecca Bonnici outlined the school's growth, explaining that it welcomes around 600 international students each year and has been at the forefront of innovation, including the introduction of virtual reality into language lessons.

According to Borg, private investment in tourism requires government support, while Malta should focus on attracting higher quality visitors rather than increasing numbers. He also referred to the need for an air service from Malta International Airport for visitors wishing to travel directly to Gozo. Borg said this would help strengthen Gozo's tourism product. He argued that the Government should ensure the country has the infrastructure needed to attract visitors seeking quality experiences.

Borg later visited Santa Tereża School, where school leaders discussed the importance of involving educators in decisions on education policy. They also highlighted challenges faced by the school, including difficulties finding replacement teachers when staff are absent, and suggested that government-provided cover educators would offer valuable support.

Borg said the PN remains committed to keeping education among its main priorities. He argued that education should help children develop in every aspect of life while equipping them with the essential skills needed for the future, including critical thinking.

The statements and proposals were made during a series of visits in Gozo alongside other PN representatives.
