The Nationalist Party has officially opened its National Convention titled “Malta ’l Quddiem,” which is taking place this weekend at the Grand Hotel Excelsior Malta in Floriana, with Party Leader Alex Borg calling for the development of a clear and forward-looking policy framework guided by the values of respect, courage and hope.

Addressing the opening session of the Convention, Borg appealed for unity and participation, urging people to join the PN in building a bridge between vision and action. He emphasised the need for politics that is truly “by the people and for the people,” stressing that the Convention must serve as a platform for concrete proposals that move the country forward.

The opening session was also addressed by the President of the PN General Council, Mark Anthony Sammut, and the Chairperson of the Convention, George Vital Zammit.

Throughout the day, a number of thematic workshops are being held, focusing on different policy areas. An additional workshop will take place in Gozo later this evening, broadening participation and discussion.

Meanwhile, during a visit to oversee final preparations, where he met with PN workers and volunteers, as well as staff from NET Television, the PN Secretary General Charles Bonello announced the names of two international guests who will address the Convention on Sunday.

These are former Slovak Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda, who currently leads the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, the official think tank of the European People's Party (EPP); and Dolors Montserrat, Secretary General of the EPP and Member of the European Parliament, who previously served as Spain’s Minister for Health, Social Services and Equality.

On Sunday, after the presentation of the workshop conclusions, a panel discussion featuring various experts will be held. This will be followed by addresses from the international guests, before the anticipated closing speech by Alex Borg, which will conclude the Convention.
