The Secretariat for Social Dialogue, led by Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul, hosted the 2025 edition of the National Worker of the Year Awards, an evening dedicated to honouring the dedication, spirit, and contribution of Maltese and Gozitan workers across diverse sectors.

In his address, Dr Ellul emphasized that the awards are more than a ceremony. They represent a moment of reflection on the values that define Malta’s world of work; diligence, humanity, and passion.

He noted that despite differences in size and capacity among local enterprises, every worker plays a vital role in the nation’s progress.

“We are a small country with great talent,” he remarked, “Every achievement we make as a country, builds on the commitment of our workers.”

This year’s edition featured ten award categories, ranging from Manager of the Year and Most Inspiring Youth to the Most Inclusive Organisation and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

A new Special Recognition Award was introduced and presented to Marsaskala FC Youth Nursery for launching a dedicated programme enabling children with Down syndrome to participate in sports.

The event also saw a record of more than 150 nominations.

The ceremony was attended by Acting President Helena Dalli, who highlighted Malta’s advancements in workers’ rights and its growing reputation in global industrial justice.

Winners included Silvio Cassar (Manager of the Year), Alfred Grixti (Head of the Year), FITA (Team of the Year), Bank of Valletta (Most Inclusive Organisation), and Anna Calleja, who was named Worker of the Year 2025.

Professor Yves Muscat Baron received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contribution to the health sector.
