Natalia Galea has unveiled the national costume she will wear while representing Malta at Miss Grand International 2026, with the design taking inspiration from one of the country's most recognisable foods, the pastizz.

Named "HAWN TAL-PASTIZZI", the costume transforms the traditional Maltese pastry into a couture creation. According to its creators, the design celebrates "the food, memories and traditions that form part of everyday Maltese life".

The costume draws inspiration from the pastizz's golden colour and flaky layers, with shimmering details recreating the look of a freshly baked pastry. Its sculptural silhouette is inspired by the way the pastry expands while baking.

The concept was developed to present "something quintessentially Maltese" to an international audience. The creators said the costume showcases "not only its historic landmarks and Mediterranean identity, but also the everyday traditions and simple pleasures that Maltese people immediately recognise as their own".

The costume was designed by Thai designer Jakarin Pimpala of Touch-jai, combining Maltese inspiration with Thai couture craftsmanship.

Supporters will be able to vote for Malta in the Best National Costume competition once voting opens.
