My Group Founder Ivan Sets Up Foundation In Honour Of Late Wife Sandra

In a post shared to social media, Xarabank host Peppi Azzopardi shed a spotlight on the work of Ivan, the founder of The Convenience Shop (now MyConvenience & MySupermarket) and My Group.

Azzopardi explained how he met Ivan not too long ago, but once he learned of Peppi’s ongoing charity work to help families in need, Ivan pitched in to gather €1,000 on their first meet to help a family buy a laptop.

Azzopardi explained that every week, thanks to his assistant Andrew, Ivan gives him vouchers to share them with families in need and help them stop depending on charity.

‘Ivan does not know I’m writing this, because if he did, he’d tell me to keep helping and to keep it between us’, wrote Peppi.

‘I’m writing this because in the past days they founded the Sandra Calleja Foundation. A heart breaking story, wherein Ivan’s wife Sandra passed away as he was about to open his first Convenience Shop.

‘Today, in her name, this foundation will continue to do lots more good.’

The inauguration of the foundation earlier this month was attended by Prime Minister Robert Abela and President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

A bust in honour of Sandra was also set up to honour the late wife and mother’s memory, in whose name this charity work will continue.
