The wait is almost over as Mużika Mużika 2026 officially kicks off this week, bringing three nights dedicated to celebrating Maltese-language music.

The 6th edition of the festival will take place on 19, 20 and 21 March, with participating artists currently finalising rehearsals ahead of the highly anticipated performances. Over the past days, singers, musicians and the orchestra have been hard at work preparing for what promises to be another spectacular production.

This year’s edition is set to reach an even wider audience, as Mużika Mużika will be broadcast on four local television stations for the first time. Viewers will be able to follow the festival live at 9pm on TVM, ONE, F Living Channel and Smash TV, bringing the excitement of the event into homes across Malta and Gozo.

The festival will also include sign language interpretation on TVM+, part of ongoing efforts to make Maltese cultural events more accessible to everyone.

On Thursday, audiences will hear all competing songs for the first time. Voting on the night will include a jury vote and an MFCC audience-only vote, with those attending the show able to vote through the official app. The public watching from home will be able to vote only on Saturday. All songs performed on Thursday will return to the stage for the final show.

Friday will feature the much-loved Classics Night, a non-competitive show where the 16 Mużika Mużika finalists will duet with local artists to perform classic Maltese songs.

The winner will be announced on Saturday, with the final result determined through a combination of Thursday’s jury vote, Thursday’s MFCC audience vote, Saturday’s jury vote, and the public televote, crowning the sixth winner of Mużika Mużika.

Last year’s edition attracted over 390,000 viewers, confirming Mużika Mużika as one of the island’s most anticipated cultural events. With rehearsals now in full swing and the stage almost set, excitement continues to build for another memorable celebration of Maltese music.

A limited number of tickets for those wishing to attend the shows live are still available from 🌐 www.muzikamuzika.mt.
