Multi-Sensory Room At Dar Il-Kaptan Inaugurated Following VOPS Funding

A refurbished multi-sensory room at the Foundation for Respite Care Services, better known as Dar il-Kaptan, has officially been inaugurated following the installation of new equipment funded through the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS).
The upgraded room is widely used by clients attending the Day Programme and Residential Respite services offered by the organisation.
The inauguration was led by the Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering, Julia Farrugia, together with the Chairperson of the Foundation for Respite Care Services at Dar il-Kaptan, Martin Saliba.
Martin Saliba explained that much of the previous equipment had been in use for more than 13 years and could no longer be repaired due to continuous wear and tear.
He said the refurbishment project was made possible through funding of €20,000 awarded under VOPS by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.
Saliba added that Dar il-Kaptan continues to provide respite care services within a safe and inclusive environment for persons with disabilities and their families, while offering support tailored to their individual needs.
During the inauguration, Minister Julia Farrugia said the Government remains committed to building a society where inclusion is reflected through concrete investment in people, services and voluntary organisations. She stated that progress should be measured not only by economic growth, but also by the dignity and respect shown towards every individual.
The Minister also emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration with voluntary organisations to create fairer and more inclusive communities where persons with disabilities are given greater opportunities and access to quality services.
