MSIDA SUBWAY ENTRANCE CLOSED AFTER CAR SKIDS AND CRASHES INTO UNDERPASS WALL
Local

Pedestrians attempting to pass through part of the Msida subway were unable to do so after the entrance near the skatepark roundabout became blocked by fallen stone bricks.

The incident occurred at around 8am on New Year’s Eve, when a driver travelling along Triq Dun Karm lost control of the vehicle while approaching the roundabout. The car reportedly skidded on the wet road surface due to rain and crashed into the wall of the underpass, causing part of the structure to collapse onto the entrance of the pedestrian pathway.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Two days after the incident, the debris remained scattered across the passageway, with the only visible change being the placement of police barricades and tape to cordon off the affected entrance. A pile of stone bricks from the collapsed wall was still blocking access at that point.

While the specific entrance near the roundabout has been closed, access to the underpass has not been entirely cut off, as other entry points remain open.
